Amy and Conor’s Wedding at Stevenson Ridge!

Earlier this summer I had the great pleasure of photographing Amy and Conor’s gorgeous wedding and celebration. Their ceremony was held at St. Matthew’s church in Spotsylvania, VA, while their reception was at the always lovely Stevenson Ridge just down the road.

What I loved most about Amy and Conor’s wedding is how family-centric it felt. Amy has a VERY large family, and she and Conor did an excellent job of making both families feel like one, which is no easy task on a hectic wedding day. I would say more about how great these two are, but I think the pictures speak for themselves. Congratulations Conor and Amy!

After you get done checking out Amy and Conor’s wedding, make sure you visit the vendors who made it all happen.

Erin and Amanda

This past June Erin and Amanda threw an awesome backyard wedding at their home in Spotsylvania, VA and I was stoked to be a part of it. They put a lot of thought into making their wedding meaningful. Good friend, and slinger of ink, Kenny Brown (of Jack Brown’s Tattoo Revival fame) presided over the ceremony, and in lieu of gifts, Erin and Amanda asked that donations be made to the local SPCA.  Before the ceremony guests got to mingle and enjoy a Jameson fountain that flowed all night long. We made it through the ceremony, portraits and cake-cutting (a gorgeous cake also made by a good friend) before phones started blowing up with tornado warnings from a tornado touching down less than a mile away. So what do you do when a tornado touches down on  your wedding day? Enjoy your first dance in the rain, of course. I had a blast with Erin and Amanda and hope you enjoy their images.

Caity and Jake’s St. Mary’s Wedding

Caity and Jake were married at Woodlawn Bed and Breakfast in St. Mary’s County, MD in early June, and I couldn’t have been more pleased to be a part of their wedding. I met Caity and Jake for their engagement session last July at the McKee-Beshers sunflower fields in Montgomery County, MD on a hot evening and it was no different for their wedding! We had a blast both times and the venue was absolutely idyllic. These two met at St. Mary’s College, which is just a quick hop down the road from Woodlawn.

Caity kept her cool all morning as the threat of rain looked like it was going to send the ceremony under cover, but as the day wore on, the forecast got better and better, and Caity and Jake enjoyed an absolutely gorgeous wedding day, especially once the heat broke in the early evening. Their ceremony was held under a gorgeous shade tree that sits right on a protected inlet of Calvert Creek, just off the Chesapeake Bay.

Caity and Jake’s decorations and table decor were designed around a farmer’s market theme, and the produce doubled as a take-away gift for guests. I loved it, and it couldn’t have fit the venue any better. After a quick portrait session, Caity and Jake met their guests for the cocktail hour, and then came back out for more portraits at the golden hour before spending almost the entire night on the dance floor. Hope you enjoy!

Emily and Paul’s Luray Wedding

Khimaira Farms in Luray, VA will always hold a special place in my heart. In fact, my first blog post on this blog (from 2008) was a single image from Martha and Daryl’s wedding at Khimaira Farms, one of the first years that the farm was hosting weddings. Since then, I’ve had at least one wedding at the farm every year. This year, Paul and Emily’s wedding couldn’t have been more perfect. I spent the morning hopping back and forth between Paul and Emily, documenting their getting ready process. Emily was staying at an awesome airbnb and Paul was getting ready at the historic Mimslyn Inn.

We met back at the farm for seperate bridal party and groomsmen photos just before their intimate ceremony, followed by a casual stroll around Khimaira’s gorgeous property for some awesome portraits. After their first dance, and a delicious dinner from Pizzeria Moto (one of my favorite caterers), Paul and Emily snuck back out to capture a few more portraits during the golden hour, which is always truly special in Luray. With that done, you know the drill…we partied into the night.

Many thanks to all the awesome vendors who made the event possible:

Sarah and Brett’s Fredericksburg Wedding

Getting caught up on posting Spring weddings and couldn’t wait to share Sarah and Brett’s celebration. Their ceremony was performed at the historic Aquia Episcopal Church in Stafford, VA. Not much has changed about the church since it was built in the 1750’s, which makes for a gorgeous wedding! I’ve only photographed one other ceremony at this church, as they are understandably protective of this local gem. After the ceremony, we all took the trolley to downtown Fredericksburg where Sarah and Brett celebrated their marriage at The Inn at the Olde Silk Mill. On the way, everyone took turns getting photographed on the “Fireball Cam.” Sarah and Brett taped a GoPro to a bottle of fireball to capture some pretty awesome action shots of their friends and family enjoying the festivities. Because Sarah and Brett chose the Silk Mill, we got some pretty awesome access to the old abandoned power plant that sits along the Rappahannock River in Fredericksburg for portraits of Brett and Sarah and their bridal party. After that, it was a party into the early hours. Congrats again Sarah and Brett!
