Kyle and Amanda were married at the end of May at Ingleside Plantation Vineyard in Westmoreland, VA. I posted a quick preview from their joyous celebration here, and I’m so excited to show you more from their wedding!
One of the things I haven’t talked about much here is the “first look.” A first look is for couples who decide that they’d like to do some or all of their portraits before the ceremony. One of the most magical moments of a wedding day is when the couple sees each other for the first time. That’s true whether that first glimpse happens at the altar, or before the ceremony.
I’m always respectful of a couple’s decision to maintain tradition, and not see each other before the ceremony, and go to great lengths to make it work. However, if pressed to choose which I prefer, I will side with the first look every time. The biggest benefit of doing a ‘first look’ is that it’s a huge stress relief for the couple. Planning time for portraits before the ceremony makes the wedding day run smoothly, and without stress. It’s a tough thing to get time alone on your wedding day, and even though I’ll be there in the distance, everyone who’s done a first look with me truly appreciates having some relaxing, special time with each other on the day of their wedding. Not to mention, loving their pictures!
And I don’t know about you, but judging from the pictures of the ceremony, they were just as excited to be seeing each other in the aisle as they would have been had they not done a first look.
Enough about first looks! Their wedding was amazing! The ceremony was performed on the shores of the Rappahannock river, followed by a reception in the gorgeous courtyard of Ingleside Vineyards. Enjoy!
