Margie and Harrison!

Margie and Harrison were married at the Jepson Alumni Executive Center at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA. They had a gorgeous July day for it, and the wedding was everything they were looking for it to be; intimate, sophisticated and a lot of fun! Margie and Harrison met at the University of Mary Washington, so they couldn’t have picked a better venue for their wedding. The folks at the Jepson Alumni Executive Center did an excellent job, and the venue is really quite pretty. Congratulations Margie and Harrison!

A Very Special Post!

Yesteryday, in their gorgeously manicured and lush back yard in Woodbridge, my mother and her fiance Tom were married! As you can imagine, it was a special day for the whole family, and I was honored to walk my mom down the aisle, and snap a few pictures. I couldn’t be happier for my mom and Tom, and I’m excited that my family has grown (I’ve got a brother now!). What a gorgeous couple! Halfway through the reception my mom turns to me and says “So, are you going to have some weird ‘I photographed my mom’s wedding blog post?’” Umm….of course I am! Congratulations Becky and Tom!

Acting Headshots

Emily is headed off to NYU this fall to study Educational Theatre and called me to update her acting headshots. We had a great time trekking around downtown Fredericksburg. The trend for acting headshots has swung from studio to environmental lately, and we got plenty of those, but I couldn’t resist setting up an on-location studio. The lighting here is for a classic beauty shot, and utilizes clamshell lighting. I’ve got a SB900 in an umbrella about two feet below Emily’s face, and an SB900 in a Lastolite Ezbox about one foot above her face. Both light sources are at equal power ratings. We shot in the shade, with a semi-dark background and simply bumped the shutter speed to entirely kill the ambient. Many thanks to Hunter for being my key grip, and to Emily for being such a great sport in the heat!

Redemption Art

A while back I shot some promo work for Mirinda Reynolds, a local artist and great friend. She used the pictures to promote the opening of her solo show titled ‘Redemption Art.’ The show is being held at Sammy T’s on Caroline St. in downtown Fredericksburg, which just happens to be one of my favorite restaurants. We were there on opening night, and highly recommend the show! Go check it out, and stay for dinner or lunch. The Camper’s Special is to die for, and Mirinda’s show is excellent! It runs through August, so don’t miss it!

It doesn’t get much better than this! Look at the joy on their faces! I love it! Mary and Stuart were married at St. George’s Episcopal Church in Fredericksburg, VA and followed with a reception at The Kenmore Inn. Congratulations Mary and Stuart!

Alex

Had a wonderful shoot with Alex yesterday morning. Alex was a great sport, waking up early enough to catch some beautiful light, and avoid the oppressive heat. Just a quick preview for Alex and his mom before they head off for the beach. Can’t wait to finish the rest! Sarah and Mike were married at the Briar Patch Bed and Breakfast in Middleburg, VA on July 10th. The wedding was absolutely gorgeous, and miraculously took place outdoors on a one day hiatus from the ridiculous heat we’ve been having this summer! Congratulations Sarah and Mike! As I hope you can tell from the thousand-watt smiles in their pictures, they were pretty darn happy to be married!

Two Recent Fredericksburg Engagements

Just a couple of shots that I love from two recent engagement sessions in downtown Fredericksburg! Sarah and Jim will be married this fall, and Derrick and Jessica will be married in the Spring of next year! So much fun was had during both sessions!

I’m off to Michigan tomorrow to shoot Keith and Melissa’s gorgeous Detroit wedding. I’ll be back next week!
